Generosity

A pilgrimage is a journey, a walk, or a trip of special significance, and like all trips a pilgrimage starts with a first step.

Thank you for your abundant sacrificial giving to Mountainside United Methodist Church through the difficult year that was 2020. Your generosity opened new doors as others closed by allowing the word of God to be heard far beyond the walls of our physical building. The past year has seen our congregation grow to include an active “online” community for the first time in Mountainside’s history. In addition, you generously shared the love of Jesus Christ on the streets of Albuquerque and in the East Mountain area, in the Czech Republic, at shelters in Chihuahua, Mexico, on the Navajo Reservation, and in small groups in rural Alaska, all to His glory.

Our Pilgrimage of Generosity is as important to our community today and into the future as it was to Paul in his pledge to help the church in Jerusalem. As we gradually exit this season of COVID-19 the need will be greater than ever to minister to our region. Hungry bodies and souls will need to be fed, the exposed will need to be clothed and given shelter, and the disadvantaged will need support.

We look forward to keeping the doors of Mountainside open to all who need the love and care of Jesus Christ. God’s love is manifested:

  • In our online and in-person services.
  • Through the Upward basketball ministry.
  • During gospel music performances by the JUG band on Sunday morning and at assisted care facilities throughout the week.
  • Via meeting rooms for Alcoholics Anonymous and other support groups.
  • Amidst Mountainside’s many other ministries.

As we plan for the coming year, we want you to know that your support of:

$600 provides 5 meals to each of the ~600 families East Mountain Food Pantry serves

$1,400 funds one year of events, such as Trunk or Treat, that connect Mountainside with the community,

$6,400 funds Messy Church services for a year

$25,000 funds the equipment and cost of one year of live-streamed worship services

Please pray with us as we seek God’s will on this Pilgrimage of Generosity in preparation for our annual pledge campaign.
