Serving God and Our Neighbors

Through Acts of Kindness

SHARING OUR STORY

We seek to live Jesus’ command to love God with all our heart, mind and soul, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. We endeavor to demonstrate this commitment in various acts of service locally, regionally,

BUILDING OUR FUTURE

Mountainside service-related accomplishments in 2021 served many needs:

  • Acquired a trailer to store tools and materials for a local Maintenance Ministry.
  • Bought a new security door for the Juntos ministry in the International district.
  • Collected and sent cleaning, food, and baby supplies for the Border Ministry at El Calvario UMC in Las Cruces, NM.
  • Organized a mission trip to McCurdy Ministries in Espanola to help with repairs, cleaning, and gardening.
  • Participated in FILL THE PANTRY and BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS fundraising events benefitting the Dream Center ministry for homeless youth in ABQ.
  • Donated groceries, pet food, blankets, and gift cards to the East Mountain Food Pantry to address food insecurity throughout the year.
  • Provided a donation for food, clothing, and rent to a homeless veteran moving into his first home in many years in ABQ.

150 pies were made by Mountainside for the Asbury Pie Cafe for Hunger needs

GROWING OUR DREAMS

Our Serve goals for the upcoming year include:

Continuing to support organizations that address food insecurity, at-risk individuals, underserved communities, and our missionaries.

  • Local organizations:
    • Habitat for Humanity/Maintenance Ministry
    • East Mountain Food Pantry/Christmas Baskets
    • Dream Center for homeless youth
    • Asbury Pie Cafe for food insecurity
    • Juntos Ministry for school-age children
  • Regional organizations
    • McCurdy Ministries, Espanola for preschool, before and after school and mental health programs
    • Youth and Adult mission trips
    • Kairos Prison Ministry
    • Navajo UMC, Farmington for women in crisis
    • Pure Water, Navajo Rez for fuel, water, pastors
    • Border ministries
  • Missionaries and International
    • Jason and Kerensa McFrederick Czech Republic
    • SE Coleman Guatamala/Uganda
    • Morogoro Tanzania Wesley Primary School
    • United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) for disaster relief
